Short Bio
in operations since 2007
George Burroughs and his partners saw an opportunity to provide a water taxi service to a number of commercial and industrial businesses, and isolated communities on the mid-coast of BC.
Cape Scott Water Taxi Ltd. (est. 2007) and North Coast Trail Shuttle (est. 2009) operate under one roof in Port Hardy BC. Early trips with our water taxi “Sea Legend 1” provided a water taxi service to logging camps and communities on the mid-coast in 2007. The work expanded to transporting surfers and hikers to and from the North Coast Trail. Voted “Best Trail in the World”…by all of us here at North Coast Trail Shuttle!
Making Connections
anything is possible on Vancouver Island North.
Connections with people from all over the world, and walks of life are a bonus is this line of work. A wonderful older couple from Tasmania joined us this past summer on a trip dropping hikers off at Shushartie Bay (trail- head for the North Coast Trail). They were so impressed with the sea life, scenery and our tour of this great place we call home…the ol gal said “We have a trail at home called the South Coast Trail…give us your North Coast Trail Shuttle cards and we will put one at either end to advertise for you!” – That was pretty cool!
George and his crew send a big shout out to everyone at Community Futures in Port McNeill. “We wouldn’t be here today without their help!”
She’s a bonny lass measuring in at 32 feet with seating for 12 passengers.
She’s got a heated cab to keep you cozy with dry gear storage.
She runs on twin Volvo diesel-engines pushing 660 horsepower and travels at cruising speed of 25 knots. Of course, she’s certified under Transport Canada Specifications and Regulations for safety and stability.
